During his short spell in the Midlands, Rashford impressed with four goals and six assists in 17 appearances across all competitions.
The 28-year-old has since continued that resurgence at Barcelona following another loan move from United in the summer of 2025. Rashford has enjoyed an outstanding campaign in Spain, contributing 14 goals and 14 assists in 48 matches for the Catalan giants.
Barcelona are believed to be keen on keeping Rashford beyond this season, although reports suggest the Spanish club would prefer to extend his loan stay before committing to a permanent deal in 2027.
That uncertainty has reportedly encouraged Aston Villa boss Emery to revive his pursuit of the winger. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Villa manager is prepared to push strongly for Rashford’s signature if the opportunity arises.
The Spanish outlet claims Barcelona are fully aware of Emery’s admiration for the player after working with him previously at Villa Park.
However, the report also states that Rashford’s preference is to remain at Barcelona, either through another loan arrangement or a permanent move.
The forward is said to believe he has earned his place at Camp Nou and is determined to continue his career in Spain rather than return to the Premier League.
Rashford Focused on Barcelona Future
TEAMtalk transfer insider Graeme Bailey has also reported that Rashford’s clear priority is staying with Barcelona.
Sources indicate that Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has personally informed club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco that he wants Rashford to remain at the club next season.
Bailey further reports that Rashford currently has little interest in moving back to England, despite Villa’s renewed interest and Emery’s desire to reunite with the attacker.
While Aston Villa remain admirers of the forward, Barcelona still appear to be Rashford’s preferred destination as discussions over his future continue ahead of the summer transfer window.
